EnCon United Company Praises McKenzie Brooks, PE on World Engineering Day 2025
Remember Your Spark
Denver, CO—03/04/2025—
World Engineering Day falls during Women In Construction Week this year, so we wanted to highlight one of our most outstanding engineers, McKenzie Brooks. A Project Design Engineer for EnCon Design, McKenzie’s hard work and unflappable attitude has not gone unnoticed.
“McKenzie is a sterling example of what every engineer should strive for. Her attention to detail, high standard of excellence, sound judgement, and leadership qualities have benefited Encon tremendously. It’s people like McKenzie who provide hope that the future will be brighter, and significant progress can be made by applying consistent effort and attention.”
– Jimmy Sorensen, PE, Encon Design
We asked McKenzie a few questions about her career, and she had some fantastic advice to give anyone looking to enter the engineering world as a structural designer.
EnCon: What got you interested in engineering?
Brooks: I have always had a passion for math, but I wanted to pursue something that seemed more dynamic than the typical career paths. Engineering offered me a way to apply problem solving skills in real world situations while also contributing to projects that I get to see come to life.
EnCon: What do you find fulfilling about your work?
Brooks: I find it incredibly fulfilling to see a project evolve from a concept on paper to its final completed form. Being a part of the process and watching all the hard work come to life is truly rewarding.
EnCon: What advice do you have for women entering the construction industry as an engineer?
Brooks: My advice is to remember that while the construction industry can be challenging at times, it is important to never lose sight of what originally sparked your interest. Stay focused on your goals, trust your abilities, and know that your perspective and contributions are valuable.
