Total Precast System

The EnCon Advantage

Our collaborative approach, early engagement, and expertise in precast data center design can streamline your project timeline and ensure cost-effective detailing.

fewer risks

Precast concrete is prefabricated offsite, allowing the ability to meet a fast-track construction schedule and a condensed duration. Our in-house installation team can efficiently erect the Data Center allowing other trades on-site in a shorter time. Our detail design facilities trade coordinate to maintain the aggressive timeline and budget projections Data Centers often require.

Learn More about Schedules

During a TPS construction, risk exposure to Owners, Design Team, and General Contractors is reduced. Because of this risk reduction, insurance costs are lower than other methods of building a Data Center.

TPS requires no steel framing. No waiting for materials delivery or extending your timeline due to overbooked mills. By dropping steel, you instantly change your cash position and increase the speed of your project.

Precast concrete construction reduces detailing and construction trades with year-round erection and fit-out for faster occupancies. While site work, utilities, and foundations are being constructed, precast components can be designed and fabricated, ready for installation as soon as the site is prepared.

A total precast solution for the core and shell allows the fastest construction schedule in part by eliminating trade overlap of the core and shell system. Simultaneous work on and off-site and concurrent system installation ensures that trades spend less time on site.

condensed schedule

Data centers typically have accelerated construction durations. The speed at which precast can be manufactured and erected complements these aggressive schedules. Multiple cranes and construction crews can be an effective method for condensing a construction schedule even further. This allows the structure to be occupied by other trades more quickly and supports earlier completion and move in dates.

For Core and Shell, we are your complete provider. EnCon Companies Designs, Manufactures, and Installs your TPS. With all that in-house, your transitions and timetables are more dependable.

All our Double Tees come with built-in mechanical hangers. Upon request, pipe yolks can be inserted at appropriate intervals. These features allow MEP Trades to work faster—saving time and money.

Precast roof framing can serve as the lateral diaphragm, accelerating the roof level mechanical installations. With a precast floor and roof plate, the lateral system can be installed concurrently, reducing the amount of shoring and bracing required during this phase of the construction cycle.

Precast/prestressed concrete is inherently stronger than other materials, so deck systems can be optimized for a larger bay footprint. Column spacing can be adjusted to better coordinate with hot and cold aisle alignment. Long spans and shallow depths support the facility planning for server racks and other large Data Center mechanical equipment.

performance
beyond promise

With accurately controlled concrete batching and quality-controlled fabrication under factory conditions, we produce consistently high quality and high strength precast concrete members. Precise curing procedures result in rapid form turnover and schedule conformity. With superior resistance to abuse from impact, soil, mold, mildew, chemicals, and UV exposure, precast will last longer with less upkeep.

Architectural walls, spandrels, and columns can not only be used as load bearing elements, but also as integral insulation and maintenance-free architectural aesthetic. Form liners and finishing techniques, ranging from sand blast to acid etch, are commonly used to accentuate building character. Inlay brick and split-face-masonry exterior architectural façades can also be incorporated.

All Data Centers require higher than normal design loads to keep these critical facilities operational in a catastrophic event. Precast structures have the advantage of being able to transfer these forces through proper load paths down to the foundation. Testing and demonstration have shown that impact from airborne debris is easily resisted by solid and insulated wall panel systems.

For Data Centers, we offer customizable R-values to assist with heat dissipation and still be code compliant. For occupants of a TPS, the innate thermal regulation of concrete lowers energy costs by shifting energy demands to off-peak hours and levels the peak fluctuations in mechanical HVAC equipment demand.

Unlike steel members and metal decking, there is no need for additional fire protection since all precast members are designed and constructed to meet a 2-hour rating. With a TPS, this high fire ratings will include the Data Center’s floor, roof, and wall members. A 4-hour fire rating can also be incorporated into your precast.

Precast also provides outstanding sound and acoustic isolation, requiring minimal—if any—additional soundproofing. If your Data Center includes administrative occupants, then those offices will already have relief from the hum of the equipment.

Experienced
TPS builders

We have more experience designing, constructing, and installing Total Precast System Data Centers than others. We also have extensive experience in the overall Data Center Market Sector and are currently working on several projects.

Thanks to our experience, we have several TPS Data Center Designs ready for you to choose from. Make your timeline even shorter with these pre-made designs.

If your Data Center already has a design for a steel frame or even one being erected, you can still get the benefits of Precast with our mixed-design installation options.

Seamless
Transitions

Unlike other companies, EnCon has designers who can perform a pre-construction design for your Data Center. This preliminary design is based on specific usage and design deliverables the Data Center requires. No outsourcing of this foundational point in the process means a quicker, smoother process from pre–construction to production design.

EnCon’s engineering and design services provide product knowledge of structural engineering and components, precast panel function, structural and architectural considerations, and integrated engineering. These precast solutions provide product variation and geographical diversification, development of innovative product lines, use of certified precast products, and innovative design techniques.

EnCon Companies are leaders in integrating BIM (Building Information Modeling) into the Precast Industry’s best practices. Our integration of BIM revolutionizes the speed and accuracy with which our precast concrete shop drawings are developed. In this phase, our design team will facilitate and work closely with the rest of the design team to ensure proper attention has been given to the task of trade coordination.

Known for the highest level of client service, EnCon Companies provides each of our clients with one Project Manager beginning at pre-construction and ending after punch list. Our clients always know who to contact and where to get important project updates.

Reputation for
Excellence

Because so much of your project is in-house for us, you will find the accuracy of our time and cost estimates to be unparalleled. Our clients are also consistently impressed with the quality of our products, even given the speed at which we deliver them.

All EnCon Companies are Certified by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). The pioneers and titans of the precast, prestressed concrete industry founded PCI. PCI Certification means that we are held to a stringent quality assurance program, ensuring not only that the manufacturing and installation processes are high quality, but also that the construction process is faster and smoother for all parties involved.

For over 70 years, EnCon Companies have been industry leaders. Our track record over the years is proven by consistent industry recognition and awards for our service and design.
