Building From the Ground Up: Susan Tanenbaum Joins Stresscon as VP & General Manager

There’s a certain energy in a precast yard before the sun is fully up — forms being set, crews preparing for pours, the steady rhythm of a team that knows its craft.

That’s exactly where Susan Tanenbaum likes to start her day.

“I love walking the yard at 6:30 in the morning,” she says. “Seeing that things are moving. Watching concrete being poured. Our people are artisans in many respects — and I love the passion they bring.”

Tanenbaum recently joined Stresscon Corporation as Vice President & General Manager, bringing decades of leadership experience across North America in precast concrete and building materials.

For Tanenbaum, construction has always been about more than product — it’s about people.

Early in her career, when given the opportunity to step into leadership at her family’s precast company, she made one request: start in the shipping department.

“I didn’t want to walk in as the boss,” she explains. “I wanted to learn. I wanted to understand how everything worked.”

That mindset still guides her today. She believes every employee should understand the full picture — from plant operations to jobsites to customer relationships.

In fact, she plans to take Stresscon team members to see completed projects throughout Colorado.

“It’s important to celebrate your people,” she says. “When you stand in front of a finished project and know you helped build that — that’s powerful.”

Tanenbaum is equally energized by the opportunity to strengthen teams and shape strategy.

“I’m excited to be part of a private company where decisions are made quickly, people are listening, and I truly have a seat at the table,” she says. “We have amazing people here. I’m ready to learn, build, and grow alongside them.”

Outside of work, Tanenbaum enjoys cooking, traveling, collecting photography-based art, and exploring Colorado Springs’ trails and museums — but for now, she’s focused on continuing to build great teams at Stresscon.
